Badminton and Raquet Sports - A great way to get fit

I’m off out here soon to play some Badminton with my son.

At less than £8 for court hire its a great way to spend an hour. A person of my size can expect to burn around 700 calories per hour. That’s pretty good in my book, I’m looking to join the leisure centre here and become a member at some point.

The aim is to get myself down to a trimmer weight, something in the region of 200lbs, so I have to lose around 25lbs which isn’t so bad, I guess I’ll just to need to cut down on the carbs and those late night bottles of Ruby Cabernet!

The plan is eventually to graduate to something a little more intense like Squash and see how that goes.

I do wonder whether at 39 I should be looking to up the ante but hey, George Foreman fought for a heavyweight boxing title in his 40’s

Unusual Activities that people get up to in this world

I was talking to a friend the other day about this website. She asked me to show her the url and then started to giggle like a possessed banshee.

She was particularly amused by the Dwarf throwing forum. She made me laugh when she said all non pc I might add “So, let me get this right, some one advertises for a dwarf or a dwarf advertises for someone to throw them…” Heh - yeah I guess upon reflection that does sound kinda funny, but then to me so is train spotting, and stamp collecting but people still do it and get a little joy out of it all too, so who am I to disrespect what they are in to.

Suffice to say the Dwarf throwing forum is staying as are the whole host of other weird and wonderful things and interests that people from around the world get up to. Just because some of us may think Cockfighting is distasteful or cruel doesn’t necessarily mean that it has no value to the people involved, or that we have a right to judge a completely different culture for the way it has developed.

I don’t doubt that sooner or later there will be requests for all sorts of other activity forums for topics that will make me scratch my head in puzzlement, but hey - the world would be a poorer less diverse place without them.
